Hi xijiahao88, Thank you for the donation. It is not easy to diagnose noise problems unless you can give a good description of the noise and it occurs under what circumstances. If the ticking noise comes and goes off intermittently, it is caused by the hydraulic lifters. The hydraulic llfters would have to be replaced. When the CHECK engine light is showing, an error has been detected in the engine management system, You need to retrieve the trouble code to proceed with diagnosis and rectification. Here are procedures for retrieving codes. Let me know the codes retrieved so I can assist in resolving problem. RETRIEVING CODES WITH MIL ( Malfunction Indicator Light = Check Engine Light) 1 . Ensure battery is fully charged before retrieving codes. ECM memory is erased when battery is disconnected. Turn ignition on. Ground data link connector terminal No. 10 ("L" wire) for at least 2.5 seconds.

2 . Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will flash first code stored or Code 4444 (no fault detected).

MIL will continue to flash same code until terminal No. 10 is grounded again. Follow grounding procedure in step 1). 3 . MIL will flash the next code stored each time terminal No. 10 is grounded until it displays Code 3333 (end of output). Retrieve trouble codes before conducting component or harness tests.

The noise location is the valve trains and that means my guess was correct, caused by valve lifters. It is quite comon for the valve lifters to produce the noise for such engines. An oil change might reduce the noise level but since noise is present all the time and not reducing, at least one of the lifter needs to be replaced.

The Check Engine Light, please refer to the following link for an explanation. Previous post is for retrieving the code without any scanner.

Sorry I do not have any picture to show you. The IAt is plugged into the air cleaner at left side of engine compartment.

It is a 2 pin sensor which looks like a matchstick at the sensor end.
