2005 Hyundai Elantra Is Firestone overcharging for A/C Expa

2005 Hyundai Elantra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello car gurus. This season I just realized my Elantra's A/C isn't working too well. Firestone says I need to replace my A/C Expansion Valve. Their estimate is as follows:

Part: Expansion Valve = $133
Labor: Remove & Replace Evaporator Expansion Valve = $69

Online I believe I found the part they are describing for around $30. Do you think they are the same part? Are they just ripping me off. Here are some links:

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation, looking at the price quoted i think that they did not note that the price would also include the refrigerant and the labour for the re gas, check this with them.

Actually they did add the refridgerant, dye and labor in on the last half. (I forgot to mention that) Those three add an additional $170 to the price. Judging from your response I am even more convinced that they are overcharging me.

Hi there,

then in that case go get a second quote and ask them to detail all parts and labour costs, they will charge a bit more depending on where they buy there parts from, so keep that in mind as well.....
