2004 Hyundai Elantra Fishing for my transmission

Transmission problem
2004 Hyundai Elantra Two Wheel Drive Manual 95,000 miles

Okay, the transmission looked like it would fit through the space, but it doesn't. Is there some kind of a trick with fishing the transmission out of the engine compartment? Do we need to remove the fly wheel? Do we need to take part of the sub-frame off? Do we need to take another part off from the transmission, or maybe just contort it a certain way?

It already took some time to figure out the trick to getting the transmission to come loose without having to pry it off, and now we've run into this problem. I really need help. This is taking forever, and I feel like we're soooo close.

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated The transmission is not designed to come out through the top of the vehicle .. you really need to remove it from underneath by removing the subframe assembly ? because of the clutch and flywheel you will not have the room to remove from the top !! Hope this helps

Removal Remove the battery terminal. Remove the heat shield (A). (Bolt: 1EA (B), Retainer: 3EA (C)) Remove the battery and the battery tray (C). Removal of air cleaner and air intake hose. Disconnect the air flow sensor connector (A) and breather hose (B). Air cleaner upper cover (C) and air intake hose (D). Air cleaner lower (A) (Bolt: 3EA (B)). Disconnect the backup lamp switch connector (A). Remove the cotter pin (A) of the clutch release cylinder (B). Remove the clutch release cylinder mounting bolts (A). Remove the cotter pin (A) of the shift and selector cable. Remove the clip (A) of the shift and selector cable. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor connector (A). Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and the transaxle mounting to the engine bolts (A). Attach to the engine hooks using special tool (09200-38001). Remove the transaxle-mounting bracket. Body mounting bolts (A) (Upper side) Insulator bolt (A). Body mounting bolts (A) (Left side). Lift up the vehicle. Remove the front tire. Remove the drain plug (A) and drain the transaxle gear oil. Disconnect the tie rod end, wheel speed sensor, knuckle, caliper and drive shaft. See AXLE SHAFTS . Remove the gear box u-joint (A) mounting bolt. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector (A). Remove the front muffler mounting nuts (A). Remove the front muffler to the center muffler mounting nuts (2EA). Remove the front muffler bracket bolt and front muffler (1EA). Remove the drive shaft (A) from the transaxle (B). Remove the power return hose (A) and drain the power steering oil. Remove the front roll stopper-mounting bolt (A). Remove the rear roll stopper-mounting bolt (A). Install the jack (A) for supporting sub-frame. Remove the sub frame (A). Install the T/M jack (A). Remove the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A). Remove the transaxle assembly supporting by a jack. NOTE:When supporting the transaxle assembly, make sure that the lifting force is applied to a wide area, not to a small localized area.

Thank you for the feedback .. you really need to reply in this box if you need further assistance .. when someone say's they are fishing .. this tells me they are using something to pull something out of the sea from above .. I have never seen anybody fishing from below the sea ??
