2002 Hyundai Elantra Occasional Squeak

Hi,

Recently I've been hearing an occasional squeak from my car. I have observed this occurs only when the Air Conditioner is on. General reasearch indicated a belt might be loose, so I had all 3 drive belts (AC/Alternator/Power Steering) replaced, but the squeak/chirp is still occurring.

Additionally, I hear an occasional second sound, again only when the air conditioner is on. It sounds almost like a stone being dropped in water - kind of a "Bloooop". Neither the squeak nor this sound last for much more than 2 or 3 seconds.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the potential cause?

The timing belt was replaced @ 45,000, and the brakes were fully replaced at about 60,000, so I don't think either of those are the cause.

Can you tell aprox where the sound is coming from?

It's somewhere from the Engine compartment, but I haven't been able to narrow it down any more than that.

I did check with the shop that replaced the drive belts, and they claim that all pullys and bolts are tight, and the tension is correct.

It still seems to only occur when the air conditioner is on

Try this little test. With the engine running, pour a small amount of water on the belt to see if the sound changes or goes away. Protect your eyes and cloths because it will most likely fling back at you.

Let me know what you find.
