Good day, I was driving on the hwy yesterday and noticed a rank ugly smell, a bit like a rotting corpse, I thought it could of come from the garbage truck I was follwing, but the smell didnt stop after a few Km of having him behind me. Then I came home from work and tried to go to work the next day (today), but the bty is stone dead, could it be the alternator that created the smell as it was dying or could it be the battery that caused the smell. Ive look at some forums, and most people say that smells dont come from an alternator, only the strap, but thats still there and in good condition. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

Hi there,

Start with getting the battery bench charged and then have a lode test don, this swill prove the condition of the battery, also get the alternator charge rate just to check for any over charging problem as this will cause the battery to boil and this can cause a smell.

just a second thought, do you think that the smell is a sulphur type smell?
