Take the vehicle to your local Autozone, they scan the ECM for free. Post the code numbers.

I don't think autozone will do this any more but Wal-mart will do it for free. I had the same symtoms and the code was one of the cylinders wasn't firing. Changed the spark plug and wire and everything worked fine.

Checker O'Reilly no longer offers the service, but Autozone still does.
