2002 Hyundai Elantra bangs going in to 2nd [automatic]

My elantra sometimes not all the time,will rev up to 3500 rpm before it will shift into 2nd gear with a bang and the check engine lamp comes on,when you stop and start again,it starts off in 2nd gear.if you turn off the engine,most times it will correct it self for a while!
