I replaced the clutch in my 2001 Hyundai Elantra. I got everything back together including all the wiring pluged back in exactly where it belongs. I started the car after a few cranks it fired up. But it will not idle. Instead it would rev up to 4000 RPMs then back down to 1000 then back to 4000 repeatedly with out leveling out. What did I do or not do to cause this. Is it a censor, ectrical of fule issue??

It sounds like a throttle position sensor (TPS) or an idle air control valve (IAC) problem. Has the check engine light come on? Also, make sure you didn't by accident disconnect any vacuum lines, especially to the EGR.

Let me know what you find.

You won't believe what it was. I spent hrs trying to find what the problem was. Including everything you had mentioned. It turned out to be the cruse control cable. It was stretched when I had lowered the engine down to make room so that the trany could be move back out of the way of the engine. I didnt not realize it until I looked next to the throttle where the cable was connected to. It was slightly open. Just enought to cause the problem. I disconnected the cable. Everything worked fine. Easy fix, I'll just have to replace the cruise controll cable....

Glad you fixed it. Anything can happen when you're doing that much work. Let us know if you have questions in the future.
