2001 Hyundai Elantra IDLE HIGH

I have within the past week found that my hyundai started to idle really high when I would start the car and every time i would pull in the clutch. The check engine light came on so I took it to an auto parts store and and recieved a code "P0507". Now it said it had something to do with the idle ais sensor, but checker auto said that they werent sure. Does anyone know how i can fix this, the cheapest way if there is one.?

Hi kristopher8, Thank you for the donation. P0507 = Idle speed higher than expected. The Idle Speed Control ( ISC )Actuator is the sensor concerned and it could be due to : 1. Vacumn leakages. 2. Stuck ISC actuator. It would be difficult to say what is the cheapest way as it can vary from cleaning to replacement of parts. I would suggest cleaning the ISC first. Get a can of carb cleaner and remove the ISC and use the carb cleaner to spray into the openings to clean it and clear the clogging. Reinstall and retest. ISC is iten # 2 in diagram.

If this does not help, you might have to replace the ISC with a worse case scenario of a PCM as well if it has been shorted by the ISC malfunctioning.
