ongoing problem with handbrake. after car stands for a few hours brake shoes dont appear to move away from drums when handbrake is released, car has to be rocked on engine and shoes release with a clunk. 7 months ago had new cables were fitted and 1 month ago drums were removed and brakes cleaned. 12 months ago cylinders were replaced. the brake shoes have not yet been renewed.

Symptoms indicates a possible brake fluid leakage at the drums. when leakages occurs and the shoes are contaminated by brake fluids, they tend to stick after standing for a few hours.

Get the brake shoes checked.
