Problem started as a hesitation when going up hill or when putting stress on the engine. I ran a code scan and got # 4 missfire. I changed the plugs, wires and coils then I cleared all codes. After all of that i noticed a bright blue spark and popping noise coming from the harmonic balancer. Its been about a month since i replaced the ignition parts and cleared the codes. It seems to run ok and there are no codes. But the spark is still there.

Have you checked the condition of the crank sensor?

yes. I ruled that out since it is located neer the fly wheel and not the balancer.

Just for the heck of it, check the ground on the engine block. Make sure it is tight, clean, and not damaged.

I will double check the ground. I did take some jumper cables and connected the engine block to the body and I still got the same result. Would jumper cables make a good enough ground to rule that out too?

I would have gone straight to the battery. This one has me confused. After your last post, I thought about it and the only thing that came to mind was a weak ground and the power trying to find a good one. That is why I suggested the ground issue. Try it again, but go straight to the battery. Make sure the jumper is on a clean spot of the engine so it grounds properly.

Let me know what you find.

I tred running a jumper cable from the negative post on the battery to a clean spot on the engine. It didn't change anything. I did put some belt dressing on the belt. That stoped the arcing at idle speed but once you give it gas it just starts all over again. I have conciderd static electricity coming from friction on the belt. But the arc that it is producing is very large and bright blue. It Almost looks like a spark from a plug. any more ideas would be apretiated. Thanks alot.

Hi:
Good to hear from you, but sorry you're still dealing with the same problem. Without being there, the only thing I can think is the crank sensor. I know you said no to that, but there has to be a break down from that.
