Hi. My car has been to the shop twice in almost, one year for the same fix. I tried to inform the mechanic about a recall in case it has something to do with it, but he says he doesn't check out the recalls.

I am worried that it might. Although, I do need to check to see if this car, bought used, has had the recall fixed.

Here it is: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 01V346000 (cut)...WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY THROTTLE OPENING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME DURING EXTREMELY COLD AMBIENT TEMPERATURES (BELOW APPROXIMATELY -5 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH HIGH HUMIDITY), MOISTURE IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER BLOWBY GASES CAN FREEZE AND BLOCK THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE AND HOSE. IF THE PCV HOSE FREEZES, COMBUSTION CHAMBER GASES ARE FORCED THROUGH THE BREATHER HOSE INTO THE AIR INTAKE HOSE AND THEN INTO THE THROTTLE BODY... (cut)

He said it was the air flow sensor and now we've replaced it. Could this recall issue cause problems with the air flow sensor? We let it sit before we brought it in the second time so the remanufactured afs we bought wasn't warranteed and we had to pay for a new one. If it was a bad one, in the first place, is there going to be evidence that is was just that? What's the likihood the remanufactured one being bad?

I'm not doubting the car is working now, but don't want to go through it AGAIN. I tried calling the recall number but wonder if they will have the info on if the car was taken in and taken care of.

I am sorry if I'm lacking any info, but want to get the "gist of it" out and will ad more as needed.

Thanks!

Your air flow sensor is located way before the PCV system going back into the intake manifold.

To check on the recall, have your VIN number ready and call your local Hyundai dealership. They will be able to tell you if the recall was ever performed on that vehicle.
