Although this car probably has a factory recommendation to use 5-30 oil, after 8 years (and especially in warmer weather) I would recommend a thicker grade and see if your consumption changes. A compression check may reveal internal motor issues, but engines can also have good compression with the oil rings become on the pistons, resulting in glazed cylinder walls and high oil consumption.
