HVAC calibration of the actuators

In most cases, the idea is to just force the HVAC control module to reboot. When it reboots it needs to relearn the door positions so it forces the calibration.

So you can do this by removing power from the module long enough so the module memory is discharged and it "forgets" the learned positions.

However, your vehicle uses a module that runs the actuators through a calibration on every cold start. So basically when the vehicle starts, the module runs the actuators to their full stop point in both directions and then takes it to the commanded position.

So we know that your vehicle doesn't require a calibrate by just looking at the replacement procedure. I attached it below for the blend door to illustrate this.

Thank you. I removed the actuator and it seems to be working fine. Do you have a diagram that shows access to the actual blend door? Probably jammed by something.

It is unlikely that something is stuck in there. Did you check the gears and make sure they are not stripped out? You should have gears on both the actuator and door.

I attached the process on how to remove the housing as that is what you have to do to get the doors out. I would suggest pulling the blower motor down first as you should be able to see in there to see if the doors are jammed.

So I've narrowed this down to possibly the blend door. My issue is now I'm still getting cold out of the drivers side vents and hot on passenger which tells me its the blend door. Sitting in the drive through the other day I started getting hot out of both vents (hotter then usual on the passenger side) then once I start driving it goes back to cold. I've read that this is a thermostat stuck open issue with constant flow of coolant through the engine not allowing engine to warm up due to the stuck thermostat. If you could give some insight into this that would be appreciated. Maybe a diagram on how to replace the thermostat. I've located it and have watched some videos. I just want to make sure it gets done correctly. I want to make sure I need to or not need to add some sealant to the gasket ect.

This could be a thermostat but it is unlikely if one side is staying hot and the other is not. That points more to the blend door. Only because if one side is hot then that means the heater core is getting hot coolant and the thermostat would cause that to not circulate which would cause both sides to not have hot air.

As for the addition of the sealant, you do not need to do this.

Thanks. I changed out the thermostat and now I'm getting good heat. I will look further into the blend door situation one of these days. I believe the drivers side is still slightly off.
