How to setup timing to original

The cam gear has a dot and I posted a picture of it for you. It has to be straight up.

The crank gear has a dowel pin. that pin goes straight up as well.

Hello Roy, I've done the timing perfect, did the test run perfect, but there's a sound coming from the back a knocking sound sometimes when I reverse and when I take-off. Also when at high speed or going downhill there's a rattling sound on the right front side of the engine.Any idea what the cause is?

Sounds like a plan.

This could be something like a water pump or a bearing that is run by the drive belt on the engine.
