How to reposition connection on transfer case shifter motor

97 GMC z71 SLE - became stuck in 4WD. 4WD electric button. I hear clicking from the switch. All buttons light up and flash. I have tried driving in reverse. Driving in First gear. Trying to disengage by pushing button while engine is off and in neutral. I have checked all the fuses, fluids and wiring. I removed my old tranfer shift motor. I got the truck to go into 2WD by using my cresent wrench. I need help installing the replacement motor.

just reinstall it and put where it was originally. then put new motor in with a new gasket. it may not fix the problem however if not have it scanned.

I need to know how to align the incert or connection correctly I am not sure what this is called. So I am posting two pictures. the pictures have both my old and used transfer case motors. I used arrows to show what area I am talking about and the positioning.
I hope someone can help me with this.

just take your crescent wrench and line the lever which you moved up with the new motor. evidently when you moved it it was in 4wd so put I back in to that position.

I tried that and it only moves in 3 space to the left and never reaches the horizontal position that the replacement motor is in. The yellow arrows shows the different positions I can shift the line lever in. the single horizontal line is the position the replacement mother is in.

have you tried plugging the motor in and see if it will end up where your shifter tang is in the same place or not. Instructions are to remove the old motor and replace with a new one straight up. if it won't shift to wher it's supposed to go then maybe it's the wrong motor.

I tried installing the motor the same day I bought it thats when I learned they shifter connection didnt line up. The motors have the same parts numbers and serial numbers.

then hook it up electrically and try to switch theswitch and see if it will line up that is the only advice I can give as you moved the tcase lever with your crescent wrench.make sure you put a ground wire to body of motor so it will work ok.
