How to confirm original equipment?

I believe the rear axle on my truck listed above has been changed or at least the differential was changed. Is there a way to find out what rear axle (Open/LSD Dif) was in this truck when new?

The only way to know is to find the sales codes. The VIN does not contain what axle you had. So, the easiest way to find this out is take your VIN and stop by a dealer or call them and see if they will send the sales codes for that specific VIN.

Then take those codes and run it against this chart. I also attached the way to decode the VIN and as you will see, the rear axle is not part of the VIN.

There is a chance if you still have the sales code sticker on the door panel then the last chart will help find these codes.
