How expensive can A/C issues be?

That is a tough question to answer. Now that you recharged the A/C, does the compressor engage? If it does, then it could be related to something as simple as a blend air door. That is what controls the temp coming into the cabin.

Here is what I need you to do: I need to know what both the high side and low side pressures are in the system when it's running (that's if the compressor engages). You will need A/C manifold gauges to do this. If you don't have them, most parts stores will lend them to you. When you get these pressures, let me know the ambient temperature when testing.

Let me know as much as you can about what is happening. As far as costs, yes you could have $1,000.00 into it if there are a lot of issues such as a bad compressor, orifice could need to be replaced, condenser and so on.
