FLEX’s fuel pump is still working but is causing the fuel pump relay to ¹overheat (relay’s fuse box terminal receptacle is no longer gripping tightly, so I am installing another under rear seat ²fuse box).

I am also replacing the fuel pump (via access through the trunk) and understand that can be done without removing the tank. Is this correct, AND just as importantly, is the fuel filter part of the fuel pump assembly?

¹N.B. I have already done the GM technical service bulletin “grind off 5 mm from rear seat latch.”

²The burnt plastic of the overheating relay terminal is clearly visible in the last 15 seconds of the 05:26 (mm:ss) video.

Hi John,

Excellent work on the fuel pump relay, I would get a small pic or Exatco knife to clean and enhance the connection for the fuel pump relay in the fuse panel. Also, the fuel filter is on the end of the fuel ump, they call it a fuel strainer, there is no fuel filter on the frame rail like older cars have. Here is how to change the fuel pimp out which I recommend as well. Thanks for the video, it helps. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.
