Very hot air coming from vents even if selector set to blue for cold. Air conditioner makes no difference. Have to shut vents completely closed.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

On this vehicle, hot coolant entering the heater core is controlled by a heater control valve. I have a feeling it is corroded or stuck in the open positions. Thus, you always have heat.

Here are the directions for replacing it. Before you just replace it, have a helper adjust the temperature in the vehicle while you check if there is movement in the valve. Also, the attached pictures correlate with these directions.

REPLACING WATER VALVE FOR HEATER
Replacing Water Valve For Heater

Picture 1

M3 (with air-conditioning system):
Remove suction hose.
Unfasten hoses (1), disconnect plug-in connection (2), unfasten screw (3) and remove water valve by lifting in upwards direction.

All models except M3:
Unfasten hoses and disconnect plug-in connection.
First remove water valve from lower bracket (4), then detach from upper bracket.

Note: Cars with air-conditioning system have double valves.
