Horn stays on

XLT model. I replaced the cruise control switches and harness in the steering wheel. After reassembly the horn continuously stays on. i pulled he airbag and rechecked the contacts but still stays on. Please help. Thank you.

Did this happen prior to the replacement?

Clock springs are a common failure for this issue.

I attached a wire diagram for you to view.

Can you post a picture of the wiring with the airbag out?

This ordeal happened after the new cruise switches were installed. I have now disconnected the two terminal wires going to the horn contacts to eliminate the horn. Well to my surprise the left side cruise switch upper one sounds the horn. I disconnected the cruise switch for now to make sure I have no horn. This is really confusing since I had no problems prior to the new cruise switches. Really baffled. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have the connectors on the wrong switches. Take the one from the cruise switch that works the horn and put it on the horn switch and see if the horn works normally.

Both the terminal switches from the cruise control switches were disconnected . The only one that was connected was the main harness clip. I cannot understand with terminal clips disconnected from the horn contacts and just the main harness from the cruise switches the horn blows through the left upper cruise switch. Baffling!

I have the same problem with my 2002 Mazda B3000 after replacing the cruises switches this morning. Did you solve the problem?

I was looking up the information for you when I got this.

Yes, the clock spring could be the issue.

I attached a wiring diagram. Look for power to and from the horn switch from the clock spring.

Make sure you have the wiring in the correct locations.

Same thing on my Ranger after changing my cruise control switches. Turns out I wasn't as careful as I thought I was and had pinched the wire somewhere during install and shorting out on horn.
