hood problem

I just bought this red 2000 jeep Cherokee classic, and I went and pulled the hood release inside the car and the hood didn't pop. what is wrong with my hood? the release for the hood inside the car is in the out position.

if the cable didn't break, smack hood in latch area and it ma pop up. then lube cable and latch so it will work. if cable broke you will have to try to unlatch from bottom or front if you can reach it.
