That is described well and I think I know what you are saying but do you think you can get a recording of it?
Sounds like you have something in between the two pieces of sheet metal of the hood. I am just not sure what that could be. The hood has an inner structure and then the exterior sheet metal so something could have come loose and is stuck in between the two. Assuming you have a hood mat that covers the interior panel, we may need to remove that to see if we can locate it.
However, a recording of the issue may help pick out what this could be. Thanks.
