Its an SH series- V-Tech- i have replaced the coil, and distributor- started after 20 tries, had huge puffs of blace smoke coming from exhaust. Started it and turned it off about 10 times, seemed to be running perfectly. Next morning, nothing, cranked strong but never caught. Whats wrong with it?

Hi xaseylv,

Thank you for the donation.

When cranking is possible without the engine firing up, we need to verify if it is sparks or fuel that is causing the problem.

To do diagnostics on possible causes, the following links have some articles that shows you what to look for. Let me know what you find and we will proceed from there.

I have already started and got thru most of the troubleshooting steps as I said before..... I replaced the coil, replaced the whole distributor, spark plugs and wires...... so I figured next is the main relay..... right?

Can you tell me what is missing causing the non starting? Spark or fuel?

If it is fuel, then the main relay would be next on the list.

Does starting fluid helps?

If it is not getting a strong spark causing the non starting, the mian relay has nothing to do with it.

Was the ignition coil replaced new or used?
Did you test the coil primary and secondary resistance?

Did you test the engine compression?
