I went to start my car a couple of days ago, and it would not turn over. It just made clicking noises and lights on dash were dim. I changed battery, and now nothing happens. Also the gear shifter is stuck in park, cannot change gears at all.

Hi jonball24,

Did you test the voltage of the replacement battery?
Did you check the main fuses?
Are the lights and horn working?

No i did not check the voltag of the nw battery. Yes I checked the main fuses. The lights inside the car and on the dash do not work. I did not check to see if the horn is working. Just checked horn, and that is a big ol no. We don't know if it is the ignition siwtch.

Seems there is no power supply from the battery.
Get the battery tested and check the battery connections as well.

Can the battery not have any juice cause the gear selector to stay in park?

The gear staying in park is due to the interlock system not working and usually it is due to the brake lights not working.

You would not be able to shift out of park if there are no power to activate the interlock solenoid under the gear shift.

That makes sense. Thank you so much for your help. I will have the charge checked on my battery as soon as I can find a multimeter, but at least I have some foundation to put my feet on. Thank you once again. When I check the battery I will put on here what the chrage was.

In the mean time, check if the battery terminals are connected securely. Unless the battery is fully drained, it would retain minimal voltage, at least to enable you to turn on the taillights or hazard lights.

Okay here is an update on my car. Battery has juice. The starter has juice going to it as well as the alternator. We changed the ignition switch and still nothing. The horn and lights do not work. I even tried putting in the radio code thing. Now we are in the process of testing wires. If there is any tips you could give me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help thus far.

Recheck the battery terminals. Seems one of the main powwer supply is missing. Check if the secondary cable from battery to the underhood fusebox is clean and secure. Use a test lamp to test the main fuse ini fuse box for power supply.

Been checked. We have power going in the fuse box and coming out. Is there like a main relay somewhere we can check?

I have sent you the power distribution schematics. Go through them and list out all the things that are working and not working. From there we could understand the problem better
