Check if the brake lights are working. If not, you need to check for a blown fuse or a bad brake switch, located on the brake pedal support.

There is a key slot on the gear shift panle, insert the ignition key and push in, shift to neutral before starting. Caution, you might be driving without any brake lights if you use this emergency shifter release.
