My Prelude has started to change gears roughly, with a distinct "Clonk" I have never had any transmission problems in the past.
Is this anything to worry about and is there a low cost solution.
Fluid is clear and the level is normal.

Hi Jimca,

It would depend on what is wrong to determine the cost.

If the problem is due to bad engine mounts, that would be the lower cost solution.

Bad innner CV joints would be slightly higher in cost.
Bad arm ball joints, bushes etc can also cause the clonking.

The most expensive repairs would be the trans assy itself.

Any of the above would cause the symptoms described and it would be best to get a visual inspection and physical test drive by professionals to determine the source.
