2001 Honda Passport car is stuck in park

i can start my car but when i mash the brake pedal and try to take out of park, it wont come out of park! it's stuck in park. even tried jacking up the rear -end and rotating the wheels to try to take pressure off the tranie. didnt work. any suggestions? thanks

Hi cody styles,

The shift interlock is malfunctioning causing the problem.

When brakes are depressed, are the brake lights coming on? If not, you either have a bad brake switch or blown fuse.

If brake lights are coming on, the interlock solenoid is not operating to release the shift lever.
