2000 Honda Passport ignition key stuck in ignition switch

I have 2000 Honda Passport 4x4 117,000 miles automatic 3.2 V6. Most recent repair was replacement of the park-neutral switch on the aurtomatic transmission at 112,000 miles. Suddenly one day I could not get my key out of the ignition switch. I can start the car, but I cannot remove the key. It turns to approximately just past the "acc" designation then stops. It is enough to shut off all of the electrical components but not far enough to be able to remove the key. Do you think this is a mechanical problem in the switch or is it related to the recently replaced park-neutral switch. I noticed that the button on the shift lever does not have any spring tension when engaged with the shift lever in park but there is spring tension on the button with the shift lever in all of the other shift positions. I feel the problem is in the barrel & key, try a little WD40 and work the lock gently, if you have no success you may have to visit a locksmith to see if they can release the barrel, a lock segment may have dislodged and jammed the key. One other thing just in case, if you remove the trim you may be able to undo the ignition switch from the rear of the lock, that might also be causing the key to hang up.

Hello And I`m sorry for the delay on the answer... OK... Key interlock system prevents ignition key from being removed from ignition lock assembly unless shift lever is in park when ignition key is in the ignition lock assembly, key interlock switch closes, providing voltage to key interlock solenoid and interlock control unit. If shift lever is not in park (parking pin switch on) interlock control unit energizes key interlock solenoid by completing ground circuit. when key interlock solenoid is energized, ignition key cannot be removed from ignition lock assembly. key interlock switch and key interlock solenoid are located on ignition lock assembly. parking pin switch is located on bottom of shift lever (if this switch is the one that has been replaced once again has problems) here a pic of the system (floor and steering shifter) What kind of shifter do you have?

I have the same problem and they are telling me that i have to replace the wiring, the clip, an the igniton switch and more for $860. If you got your problem resolved can you let me know what repairs they performed and how much ASAP?
