Haven't had a previous problem with my windshield wipers or the motor. Yesterday, I turned off the car without turning off the wipers first (it was lightly sprinkling); when I turned the car back on, there was a loud grinding noise and the wipers were stuck. I was not able to turn them off unless I turned off the ignition. Manually moving the wiper blades all the way down seemed to work for a few seconds before they would move up an inch or two before becoming stuck again.
