Clean the fuel injectors?

I am planning on replacing the seals and o-rings for my fuel injectors and was wondering if I am able to use anything that can knock off the build up on the tip of the injectors? Is that safe, or should I let it be? Thanks.

Are you asking about preventative for the carbon build up or are you asking about the carbon on the tips now? If you are asking about the carbon on the tips now I would carefully scrape the carbon off. You can use a carb cleaner, just don't mess around with the little point at the tip.
