I have a 91 Acura Integra with 200,000 miles on it. I let my sister drive it out of town and when she came back the car engine light came on. Now whenever i start the car up when the car is cold i can punch it. As soon as the engine light comes on i can't accelerate real fast the car jerks if i do and vibrates real hard. I get on the freeway and my car won't go pass 65 mph. If I stop the idle will go real low like its going to cut off. Sometimes it does.

with that many miles, it sounds like the cat-converter is clogging up and will only get worse. good luck!
also if you smell that something is getting hot, the parkbrake could be stuck.

Find the codes of the check engine light. It really sounds as though the computer in shutting down and causing the car to run in a default mode that does not read the sensors and adjust to outside conditoins, etc. Find the code.

The jerking to the side sounds like one of your axles is broken--my car was doing that when I'd do an occasional peel out for fun and I just thought it was part of the process. Maybe she hit a really bad pothole or something; you could always pretend you know what she did and see if you can get her to admit to it.
