broken sliding door

Most probably something has been thrown off track/bent/out of alignment due to the accident.

To get it back to working order, some adjustment/parts replacement would be necessary and you can try your local body repair shop for adjustment first.

Door locks work but sliding passenger (electric) door will not open in either manual or electric mode. Door remains in fully closed position. Driver side sliding door works fine. Door seems to unlock okay. I have both sliding door panel and adjacent panel covering the motor for the cable assembly removed at this time. With door closed tight, I cannot seem to unbolt and free up the latch assembly itself. Is there a way I can manually trigger the latch assembly to release the door to open (with a screwdriver, lever, etc)?

Here are the manual releases for the sliding doors and the rehoming procedure as well:

Re-homing the Power Sliding Doors

1. Close the power sliding door.
2. Turn the power sliding door main switch OFF.
3. Slowly open the power sliding door manually.
4. Turn the power sliding door main switch ON.
5. Press and hold the power sliding door switch to close the door you just opened manually. Continue to hold the switch until the door is completely closed.
6. Do steps 1 thru 5 on the other power sliding door.

Ken, THANKS for your reply. I am going to save your answer because it will come in handy in the future, I'm sure. Since I wrote in, I was lucky enough to discover the problem. Until this moment, absolutely nothing I tried manually or electronically worked to budge the door. I finally had the door and adjacent panels completely off to examine everything part by part; and then I pulled off the door motor spools. Hidden beneath the spools was a small tangle of cabling, binding up spool and motor shaft, locking up movement in the entire system. Apparently, the cable rusted and broke very near the center of the spool, hidden from view and the rest of the cabling one could see. So for example, under the exterior cable trim panel the cabling looked fine, tension existed as it normally would (because it was actually just tight against the inner spool.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. I have to say I got very different advice locally from Honda experts. One Honda "master mechanic" suggested the problem was likely a stuck/broken latch assembly; so, to get the door open, "...we sometimes have to just start drilling through the inner metal door frame and then into the latch assembly, and it would then "release" the door if one drilled here and there until you hit the right spots". Glad I didn't do that one!

The slider door on drivers side lock latch is stuck in lock position, making the door unable to close. What do I do?

try lubing it up then put a large screwdriver in it and see if it will latch on that if it does then work it back and forth a few times should be ok then.

Got lock unlatch. Can now only manually close the slider due to no power. When I hand shut the slider when in off position, and pushing shut, the door engages to lock position, but nothing else happens, and nothing once flipped to on position. The other slider on passenger side has power working. Idk what to do cuz already did fuse checks and troubleshooting no luck, battery cables etc etc but no luck.

check to see if yo can hear lock functioning when you try to power it if youcan it may be a clip broken and rod or cable has broken. see pics also try a reset otherwise the car will need scanning by a pro to see if something like a sensor is bad.

The Sliding doors stopped working after one of my sons forced the door to open, to retrieve his jacket. My hunch is that a fuse burnt up.

I see the fuse box located under the steering wheel, but I do not know what fuse I should be replacing, and since our car was bought used, we do not have a manual.

Can you help me out with telling me where I can find a picture of the fuse box - or could you indicate what fuse it is I need to change?

There are several fuses.
Primary under hood fuse box is located in the back or the engine compartment on the passenger's side. Check fuse # 11, 30A. ....... Secondary under hood fuse box is located next to the battery. Check fuse # 1, 30A. ....... Passenger's side interior fuse box is below the dash on the kick pannel. Check fuse # 1, 20A, and check fuse # 5, 20A.

Hi! I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey EX with 168k miles on it, the engine is a 6cyl. I am having 2 problems.

#1 the passenger side rear power door is not functioning and the "Power Door" light is on.

#2 I have a "check emmissions" light that has come on.

I don't know what to do about either of these and I'm looking for guidance. If I can handle any of it myself, that would be great, and if not, what am potentially looking at in terms of a repair bill?

The door will require a little electrical troubleshooting.First, check all fuses, interior and exterior (underhood power center)Remove the switch from the dash and use a test light to verify power in, then check that the switch is powering up both diresctions. Then if ok will have to remove panel to access the motor assembly, useing test light verify power is switching depending on the dash switch direction. If all is Ok then the motor is most likely bad. The emissions light is a dual light system in conjunction with the Check Engine Light. Might need a scanner to clear the light

the most common reason that odessey side doors stop working is they need to be "re-homed". no parts required 99% of the time.

I've got a similar problem with my '02 Odyssey. However, I don't think any of the items mentions could be the problem, because it's an intermittent problem. Also, I can get it to slide automatically with the dashboard button, or the key fob. When the door handle itself fails to make it work, most times just pulling a little hard on the door to get it started will get it to operate.

Any suggestions on what this problem could be?

Also: 'lostinmars' said 're-homing' could be the solution. How do you re-home the door?

Yours sounds more like a bad spot in the motor or it is weak if helping it makes it work

2000 Honda Odyssey 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi, I have tried the standard resetting of my rear passenger power door, but it still doesn't resolve my problem. The door functions fine, unless I try to use the door handle. Then it closes but won't latch, and tries to re-open and the warning beep sounds. I have taken off the inside panel and found that if I try to close it with the handle then I must stop it before it closes, manually push a rear latch down inside the door with a screwdriver, and then it successfully completes the cycle of closing and latching.

Any suggestions?

with the engine running,remove the fuse for the door,located to the right at the bottom of the glove box.wait for one whole minute before re-installing it.that will clear the door's program,including any glitch.
check the rail at the bottom of the door,by the foot step;oftentimes dirt, debris and sometimes food(blame the kids) get stuck which activates the safety feature for the door and causes the glitch when it gets confused when you try to force it after the fact. just clean and lubricate the rails so the door slides easily

Problem seems to be a sensor out of alignment or faulty. You mentioned pushing a rear latch and I believe that the latch is the key to the problem. Check for sensor or switch conneted to this item and readjust as necessary.

I am having difficulty accessing my database now so is unable to provide addional details. Would get back to you once the connections clears up.

I need to replace the center roller on one of my power sliding doors. How do I disconnect the door cable from each side of the center roller? I don't know how to get some slack so I can slide them out of their grooves.

After instsalling a new battery, neither power sliding rear door will work electronically from any switch. With the main switch off, the doors can be operated.

Try resetting the control unit and see if it works.

RESETTING THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CONTROL UNIT
If the battery terminal is disconnected or No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is removed while the power sliding door is operating, the power sliding door will not be able
to be opened or closed automatically until it is reset. To reset the system, fully close the sliding door manually. Once the battery terminals are reconnected or No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is replaced, the power sliding door system will automatically reset. Make sure the power sliding door operates properly.

The sliding door on the passenger side quit working. If you pull the outside handel you can here the relay click inside on the right rear. The door will not respond to the outside handel, the inside switch or the remote. Sounds like a control module or a fuse for the door might be the problem, don't know where to look.

The manual sliding door sticks and seems to need an adjustment. Is there one?

Hi billybruce1, Yes, door adjustment can be made but the procedures are rather time consuming. Here is one part of 14 diagrams and adjusting procedures comes up to 20 steps.

Can manual doors be converted to the automatic type?

I have a 2007 Odyssey with power doors and judging by the installation of the power portion of the doors I would say it is possible to install power to your doors but looks like it might be expensive, you have buttons to install ont he dash along with wiring from both doors to the dash, not to mention fuses, and wires going to the fuse box. Looking at an expensive and timely upgrade. MIght be worth looking into doing one at a time? Hope this helps!
