Rear Hatch Does Not Open

The cable probably fell off, you need to remove the rear hatch door panel (from the inside) to inspect cables. Here are diagrams to show you what to look for (below). Please let us know what you find.

Thanks for the help. I removed the panel and the rod was fine but the cable had come out of the slot in the handle housing that it sits in. I popped it back in and it works fine now.

I have the same issue with the rear hatch door, could you please help me how to open the pannel? I could see that rod fell down and I could see the hole on middle of the plastic pannel(jest below the mirror). Any help would be greatly appriciated !!! Thanks in advance !!!

You take a flat screwdriver and pop out the panel along the outer edges at the locations where there are clips holding it on. Apply enough pressure to pop the panel out of the clips located behind the panel. The attached image shows where the clips are located (items 12, 13, 14). I used a Haynes repair manual to guide me through this. You can buy one for your Odyssey at www.haynes.com.

I have same problem but I can't get thaw pandle cover off because it won't open up. Is there anyway to get the cover off with it close

If you mean the rear door won't open then I had the same problem. I just crawled into the back of the car through the front and worked on it from inside the back with the door closed.

It unlocks and locks but the rear hatch will not open. I do not know how to get the handle cover off because it does not open. please help. Thank you

you have to do the best you can with it closed, it won't be easy.....but will come off.
