Hi jimgrady,

You need to pull the hub out, at least partially to gaiin space for installation.

How easy is this for a novice to fix?

And on that note, what is the average price one would expect to have a garage do it?

Thanks in advance

OOOOPS....just noticed your response to a similar question and thanks for that, still curious as to garage quotes that would sound reasonable.

Thanks again

Oh and one other thing. The garage that replaced my front struts 2 months ago obviously had the front right tire off. What are the chances that they could have put the one lug nut on and stripped it. When removing it tonight to put winters on, I could only get a 1/4 turn then it would click with the torque wrench, I then tightened 1/4 turn, lubed it right up, went back and forth and then got a little excited and SNAP.

Once again thanks

Hi ratherbeflyin,

My guess is the garage used an impact wrench and overtightened the lug nut resulting in the threads fusing and when you try to remove it, it seizes and snaps.

It is not really difficult if you have an air impact wrench and a 36 mm box to remove the CV joint central nut.

My estimator does not provide any book time for labor and a close guess would be 1 hour.
