The AT for the van has been rebuilt. The mechanic now says that despite flushing the raditor of contaminants the coolant still has traces of metal debris that is entering the rebuilt transmission. He recommends fitting a supplemental cooler that will service the AT only and leave the existing radiator to cool the engine.
Is what he saying is true? Is this new addition required? Is the debris getting into the tranny through the coolant a fact? I am confused. This additional repair will cost more.
