Someone was trying to open the automatic sliding door at the same time I was locking the car. The door quit working which turned out to be blown fuses. Every since this happened the Cruise control will not set. The cruise button on the dash (left of steering wheel )lights up when pressed but the cruise will not set. I have checked the fuse but not blown . Local Honda dealership does not know what is wrong. Can you tell me some things to check\replace?

Hi matrixguru123,

Which door was it that caused the problem?
Is the door operating correctly now?
Is there any other components that is not working correctly?
Is any warning indicator showing?

Most common faults for cruise control are :

1. Faulty brake switch.
2. Bad cable reel under steering wheel.

You would have to perform test to find out what is causing the problem.

Brake switch has 2 circuits, one for the brake lights and the other for the cruise control. When brake pedal is not depressed, the the cruise control circuit must have continuity whereas the brake circuit should not have any. When brake pedal is depressed, the situation reverses.

Check the brake switch to pedal clearance adjustment, excessive clearance would cause the cruise control circuit to be open.

My cruise control would not stay on when I took my finger off of it. The cruise control switch had to be replaced. Labor $60.60, Switch $203.79. Works fine now. Kathi
