SRS light always on. No OBDII connector, only SCS. ( Made in Japan ) Shorted SCS and got blink code of 51. What is that ? Pulled back up fuse, light still on.

Thanks

all repairs on air bag systems should be carried out by a qulified technician !!

SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
When ignition is turned on, SRS indicator light should come on for about 6 seconds and go off. While vehicle is driven, light should not come on or flash. If SRS indicator light does not operate as specified, system must be inspected/repaired as soon as possible.

Hi Tim,

Guess you have a bad control unit.

TROUBLESHOOTING OF INTERMITTENT FAILURES

NOTE: If there was a malfunction, but it doesn't recur, it will be stored in memory as an intermittent failure, and SRS indicator light comes on.

1. Record DTC. (If there is only DTC 5-1, replace unit.) Remove SCS service connector from service check connector. Erase DTC memory base. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MEMORY article in this section. Turn ignition OFF, and wait 2 to 3 seconds.

2. With car in neutral, start engine and let it idle. Connect SCS service connector to service check connector. SRS indicator light will blink continuous short blinks. Shake wire harness and connector, and/or take a test drive, and/or turn steering wheel fully left and right and hold it there for 20 to 30 seconds, to determine cause of intermittent failure. If problem recurs, SRS indicator light will stop blinking and stay on. If intermittent failure is not duplicated, system is OK. Disconnect SCS service connector.
