Hi,
My car will start and fun fine, but every time I drive it, the engine will randomly start revving up to 3~4k RPMs and will just sit there. Then when taking off, it's really jumpy until I get over 4k RPMs. As I start slowing down (stoplight, cars in front of me), the car will still continue to deliver fuel and run above 4k rpm, so I have to put the car into a lower gear or hit the breaks to keep from running into someone. While in neutral, the car will continue to spike around 3~4k rpms and the engine is running quite loudly. Then randomly it will stop and the car will idle perfectly quiet between 0~1k rpms. Car will run great a for a while, and then it starts up again. Please HELP! :) Thanks in advance

Hi kdcherli,

Remove the air intake hose and check if any debris are stuck between the throttle plates.

Check if the throttle cable is stuck.

For the rpm to be revving, additional air must be able to past the throttle plates so you need to check for vacumn leaks as well.

My 88 CRX did this to. My issue was solved by replacing the O2 sensor.
