There is a high pitch squealing noise coming from the belt area but the belt appears to be okay. Sounds like a bird in the engine. It is louder when you first start cold engine up and seems to lessen as the engine warms up but continues to be there. Just wanted to know what to check out in that area and see if you know what could be making that noise. Thanks for your help.

Hi Paula,

It is most likely 1 of two pulley bearings going bad.

Find the tensioner and idler pulleys, will can of spray lube in hand. With vehicle off spray ONE of the pulleys center bolt, start vehicle if noise is gone for short time replace that pulley. If noise still present repeat procceedure on other pulley, if noise is gone then replace that pulley.
