Purchases used vehicle from Ed Voyles Honda, Marietta, GA., with stipulation (in writing) that if any repair over $500 is needed I can give it back.

My mechanic I had check it out says there is Gas in the Oil tank because he can smell it on dipstick.

How much (a range would be fine) would it cost to repair? (He says he doesn't have equipment to do it)

I have to decide whether this is a deal breaker or not in several hours!!!

Thank you!

Hi LarryA79,

Thank you for the donation.

Fuel in oil could be due to a stuck injector, bad compression, failed spark plug(s) or a bad engine.

Without a detailed analysis of the problem, it is not possible to determine the cause and required repairs.

If the vehicle had been sitting for prolonged periods, a simple tune up with replacement of spark plugs or related parts and some running in would solve the problem.

Is the engine running smoothly?
Is the engine oil level higher than normal?

A smooth running engine could mean there is nothing wrong with the engine. Some running of the engine should clear the problem.

Give the engine some running along the highway for an hour or so and recheck if the smell goes away.

Thanks again KHLow2008. The dealer said they couldn't find evidence of gas in Oil pan, but offered us $300. We will take that and possession of the vehicle...got my fingers crossed!

As long as you do not have overheating, loss of coolants or rough running, I believe it should not be any problem.
The prolonged storage has a temporary effect on the gas smell.

Good luck and have a great day.
