CRV Making Whinning Noise (like many cars make in reverse) but when moving forward starting about 10-20mph. Dealer advises transmiison replacement $3200 OUCH!!! Local Transmission Shop advises opening transmission to see source can be found and possible rebuild transmission. Very confusing and not sure which route to go and if there may be alternative approach. One suggestions has been change out fluid. HELP

For sure ! I would most definitly change the fluid 1st ! USE ONLY HONDA A.T.F. . NO ADDITIVES ! How do they know it's for sure in the trans.? I would really like to know how their diognosis leads them inside trans.. Did they tell you what they did to pinpoint noise ? I would rent Mitchell1.com Service Manual for your vehicle. If there are any Recalls A Dealer should tell you that but they will not tell you if there is a "Technical Service Bulliten" on it cause they don't have to. If there is a T.S.B., it will appear on Mitchell1.com. If there is, you can call Honda Customer Service, be nice, and they may help you out. It's only $15.00 a week for manual, well worth it for lots of other things also. Feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected] . You may call me if you like also. I worked on Hondas for 16 years, I overhauled hundreds of automatic trnny's before Honda started there own auto-trans reman factory. So I am very interested in your case. Please do not give my number out .Thanx.
