2000 Honda CRV slipping?

When my car goes from 3rd to 4th gear, the rpms jump up 3k over the normal. I'm concerned that it is the beginning of a transmission failure.
What do you suggest?

Hi creekerdad,

Check the transmission fluid level and condition first. If fluid level is low, it can cause the problem. If fluid level is correct, the trans could possibly going to fail due yo internal leaks.

Are the any indicator lights showing?
