The key is not turning in the ignition at all times. Problem seems to be getting progressively worse.

Hi Jim O'Brien,
The key cylinder is failing due to wear internally. Try some WD40 into the key slot to see if it helps. This is only a temporary fix and you would have to replace the key cylinder sooner or later.
