1998 Honda CRV Rattle from engine or pulleys

The engine doesn't have 160,000 miles on it, it should be at around 33,000 now (just had it replaced).

I was about to go get my oil changed, but I suppose that's a moot point now. I checked the oil with the dipstick and came up with nothing. There is no leaking that I've been able to see, don't know why there is so little oil. My personal guess before I noted this was a loose bearing on a pulley, but based on the oil thing there's a possibility it's an engine issue, obviously.

If you have a better idea than I do about it, please let me know. I'm asking here because I can't afford to have it even diagnosed, this came at the worse possible time (again).

okay, seems I've narrowed it down to either a spun rod bearing or lifter tick. I don't have the equipment to drop the oil pan, so I can't check for metal shavings
