My 1998 CRV recently has been having problems with the door locks. I have the alarm installed but decide not to use it, so for a while I just locked my doors manually. Up until recently, before i get out of my car i would lock all of my 4 doors from the inside, as soon as I would close the drivers door the two back door locks would unlock. So solving this problem i would close my drivers door first, then open the back doors and lock them individually. for some reason now after doing this i would come back in the morning and find that my battery is drained and the two back doors are unlocked again. the next time i tried doing this i again closed the drivers door and lock the back doors individually, but as soon as i push down the lock, it would pop right back up again. is this some sort of anti-lock my keys in my car thing? or is it just some malfunction in the door locks? should i disconnect the locks and just keep doing them manually?

also, why would it be draining my battery? i replaced it with a new one already and it has somewhat depleted most of that one now.

Hi mrrangelito,

The cause of the door unlocking are usually due to a bad door lock/unlock switch. It is stuck in the unlocked position and when this occurs, locking the doors would result in them being unlocked automatically.

You would need to check the door lock/unlock switch.

As to the battery draining, it could be the doors locking and unlocking intermittently or it could be something else. You would need to carry out a parasitic drain test to find out.
