Hello, the thermostat is located under the front of the intake inlet by the boot near the top of the transmission. Here is a picture for what it looks like to help you locate it.

Can anyone tell me where is the thermostat located on this 2 litre 2 wheel drive petrol CRV and how to change it? The temperature gauge always seems to be low, so I suspect the thermostat is faulty. thanks

Engine Cooling problem
2002 Honda CRV 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 72000 miles

After driving for about 15-20 min. The temp gauge will spike to the "H" mark. Then a few min later it will drop a little bit, than it will spike again. I check the coolent level and it is good. There are no visible leaks anywhere. Does this sound like a thermostat problem or something else?

If it is the thermostat then where is it located?

Hi tphamrick,

It depends on whether the engine is overheaing or not. A high reading with no signs of overheating might mean a bad sensor or gauge.

Did you check if the radiator fans are working?
