Slow idle at stoplights; slow to accelerate

I have a 1994 Honda Civic EX 1.6L VTEC with 135,000 miles. I did check the PCV valve as suggested and it is clean. Had one mechanic tell me to pull fuel injector wires to see if one has gone out, but I can't figure out how to do that. Car revs below 1000 rpms at red lights, and is slow to accelerate. I feel like I am running on 3 cylinders and not 4. Plugs and wires are fine; all fluids good; no leaks. How do I find the EGR valve to check and what else can I do? I have to throw car into park while at long stop lights to bring idle speed back up. Car feels like something is clogged. Please help with any suggestions! Thanks!

You need to find out one way or another what is going on. It could be a bad injector, wire, or plug. When you say revs below 1000 rpm is that a surging of the engine or is that a rough idle. Normal idle is around 750 rpm.

Pull of one of the plug wires at a time while the engine is running. See if the removal has any effect on the idle. If one of them makes no difference in the way it is running replace the wires or the plug to fix it. However, if that doesn't find the problem, I would go with a removal of one injector at a time.

Another option is to look at the EGR valve. Take it off and clean it.

Thanks for the reply. My car never ran below 1000-750 at a stoplight idle. It will surge down to almost nothing, kick back up, surge down again and so on. Car is VERY sluggish, and go figure, in 10 years of owning the car, the check engine light has never come on. With hood up, you can see the engine shaking. I will check the wires again. As for the injectors, pull the whole thing out?
