My husband drives our 1995, 4 door automatic, transmission, rear wheel drive, Honda Civic with close to two hundred thousand miles on it back and forth to work. About 10 months ago he stopped short and hit a truck with a hitch. It went through the radiator and tore up various parts of the engine. A few weeks ago he was driving home and heard something fall off of the car---the AC shut off almost instantly. We took it to the collision repair shop that fixed it after the accident. They report that the compressor was puntured by a large object, severed and part of it fell off and that's what my husband heard. My husband does not recall hearing anything hit the car.
My question is how do we know it was a puncture and not a fracture in the part when it was replaced. We have had to return it at least one other time for them to re-fix something. The repair shop was supposed to email us pictures but have not.
Please help

Sounds as thought the clutch may have broken. Had to tell what caused it but I hgihly doubt it was caused by contact with any other object.
