O2 Sensor lighting up on the dashboard

I have a 1998 Honda Civic LX. This car has about 120k miles on this and until recently gave no problems.

About 2 months ago, the O2 sensor on the dashboard lit up and the owner manual says that I need to take it to the dealer.

It recently failed inspection and the repair shop which did that said that they would charge $90/- to test what's wrong with the car and give me an estimate for repairs.

I would like to know something about this before I take it to the dealer or repair shop. Thanks..

The oxygen sensor should have been changed @ 90K miles-its problably needs resetting.

Give me the liter of this engine ?

The car is a 1998 Honda Civic LX with 4 cylinder, 1.6 liter engine.

The [malfunction light] on the dashboard is continuously lit and the owner manual says that this has something to do with the emissions control systems.

The service station personnel who inspected the car told me this is the O2 sensor. Hope I did not misdirect you. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The light that's coming On is the check engine light-in order for you to know what triggered it is to hook up a scan tool to identify the OBD2 code/s.

The OBD2 system was introduced mainly for exhaust emissions controls. You need to bring it in.
